Workforce development is a critical piece of economic development that focuses on the talent in the community. At WorkforceCONNECT, we know that workers are the lifeblood of business success, and we know that businesses are the lifeblood of local economies. When we support local businesses like yours, we work together to create a quality region for people to work, live, and play in Pasco County.

WorkforceCONNECT, a Pasco EDC program funded by the Penny for Pasco, is the premier workforce development program in Pasco County. The goal of the program is to create, contribute, and support ongoing efforts to meet workforce needs of current and future business and industry, such as ensuring processes for creating, sustaining, and retaining a viable workforce. Our program works very closely with education and training providers and is your business's one stop shop for connecting with education and training partners that will help educate or train your workforce, assist you in finding candidates, develop strong talent pipelines, find workforce funding, and engage with the workforce, such as CareerSource, AmSkills, the Pasco County Schools, colleges and universities, and more. WorkforceCONNECT, as its name implies, connects employers to resource providers, employers to the workforce, and the workforce to career opportunities in the region.

Tools and Resources

Our website is designed to assist existing primary industry and target industry employers of all sizes in Pasco County with navigating the hiring, training, and developing of talent. There are many tools here to help you, including various resources, lists of contacts, data, and more.

One of the main tools of WorkforceCONNECT website is the opportunity board portal, ConnectOPP, which was created to help facilitate business-to-business connections in the Pasco County business community. The portal will help employers list available opportunities such as mentorships, speaking engagements, career fairs, workplace tours, and more. Similar to a job board, business professionals, jobseekers, and community members can signup for these engagement opportunities. Check out ConnectOPP here.

Navigating the website is easy. For existing employers, navigate to “Employer Success” on our dropdown menu. For career seekers, navigate to “Empower Your Career Journey.” You will also find useful data and statistics on on "Data & Insights."

Local Involvement

Local government officials play an important role in WorkforceCONNECT, a pilot program approved by the Board of County Commissioners in 2018 and funded by the Penny for Pasco program. Their continued support and vision have created an environment that ensures opportunities continue to grow both for job seekers and local businesses alike.
